Area of Koroni

Venetian Castle

Koroni is located 52 km from the city of Kalamata, a small coastal village of Messinian Gulf. Koroni is amphitheatrically built on the slopes of a hill which dominates the Venetian Castle.

The Venetian castle built in the 13th century, is the main attraction of the village. Each visitor of Koroni must visit this historic castle, which is a sample of Venetian fortress architecture. Going up to the castle, the view you will see is unique, the whole Messinian Bay unfolds before your eyes. Inside the castle are preserved village and church temples.

After a stroll through the narrow whitewashed streets of the city, watching the quaint shops, get off at the port city where you will find taverns and ouzo bars to eat. Then you can relax over a coffee at the harbor cafes or sweeten yourself with an ice cream from the ice cream parlors in the city.

In Koroni you will find many beautiful beaches, some with fine golden sand and others with pebbles, where you can enjoy the sun and sea, and spend endless hours of carefree relaxation. You can also practice water sports such as wind surfing, sailing, fishing, jet ski and beach volley to offer you fun and relaxation.
